Philip brings over 30 years’ asset management industry experience, having held a range of portfolio management, investment consulting, manager selection and manager consulting roles.

After managing pension fund portfolios at Baring Asset Management, Philip became a senior investment consultant at Watson Wyatt where he was head of global asset research comparing pension fund behaviour world-wide.  He was also responsible for manager selection for financial service clients.  For the last 15 years Philip has worked as a management consultant to asset managers, first at Investit and then at Spence Johnson.  As a board director and shareholding partner of Spence Johnson he helped to sell this firm successfully to the listed US fintech company, Broadridge.

As a management consultant to asset managers Philip has been involved in hundreds of consulting assignments ranging from client audits, whereby pension fund respondents adjudicate on services provided by asset managers, to investment process consulting advising managers on effectively communicating investment messaging to institutional clients.

Philip brings a wealth of investment management experience which will be hugely beneficial to both our clients and our own business development. His insights will be particularly valuable at a time when asset managers are facing substantial challenges due to changing market conditions, requiring businesses to take stock and refine both their offerings and communications in order to meet increasingly complex client demands.– Julian Samways, Founder and Managing Director, JPES Partners
